Lassen National Forest has plenty of monitoring opportunities when a lightning storm comes over. They scramble equipment and patrol the vast foothills and Sierra Nevadas around Mt. Lassen. Otherwise there isn't much traffic to be heard over Lassen National Forest. Most recreation in the forest is hiking or camping. I don't monitor this forest much unless I am in it at the time. I will be monitoring the forests more often to familarize myself with the radio traffic.
