Lassen Volcanic National Park is one of the few National Parks in the United States that hardly anybody knows about. It was rated as the top 10 quietest parks in many magazines. The many times I go hiking up there I encounter either locals or foriegn hikers enjoying the park. Summit registers all show locals out of Chico, Red Bluff or Redding with very few from elsewhere in the state or out of the country. So it is a nice park with not many people there. You can most likely find a lake or a mountain peak all to yourself (as long as you stay away from Lassen Pk. That trail is NOT quiet ;)
When rangers talk on Tone 1 they usually just say "on the peak" when they need to tell someone what tone they're on.
